EXPANDING—Rick Ross is the proud owner of 25 Wingstop locations, similar to the new location in Pittsburgh.

Recently, a popular restaurant launched in Pittsburgh, right in the heart of the South Side.
What started as a small buffalo-style chicken wing restaurant in Garland, Texas, has finally made its way to Pittsburgh.
“When I heard Wingstop was coming to Pittsburgh I knew I had to be one of its first customers,” said Dennis Townsend.  “I couldn’t wait to get my hands on those wings, and just as I thought the food was delicious! If you haven’t had Wingstop yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting for.”
Wingstop officially opened for business Wednesday, Feb.11. The fast casual restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until midnight, while on weekends (Friday and Saturday) the restaurant will operate until 3 a.m. The restaurant is located at 1324 E. Carson St., in Pittsburgh.
The franchise is operated by owner Shawntae Spencer, Pittsburgh native and former cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders.
Like rapper Rick Ross who owns 25 Wingstop locations, Spencer too plans to open multiple locations in the Pittsburgh area.
“We are thrilled to join the Pittsburgh community and introduce local wing fans to Wingstop’s distinct, bold flavors,” Spencer commented in a press release. “As The Wing Experts, we take pride in serving only the freshest, cooked-to-order chicken wings that we sauce and toss by hand. Our 11 addicting flavors, ranging from Teriyaki to Atomic, take our wings to a whole new level.”
With a majority of the new location’s staff, including its managers and supervisors, being Black, the new business has created a number of job opportunities for African American community.
“Bringing Wingstop to Pittsburgh was such a wise business decision on so many different levels,” Lola Sims said. “Good food, good customer service, and a good location. Wingstop is going to be the hot spot this summer. If you haven’t been to Wingstop yet, you’re missing out.”
Wingstop is not only known for its great customer service, but also it’s reputation for good tasting food. The wing flavors available to customers are atomic, mango habanero, Cajun, original hot, Louisiana rub, mild, hickory smoked BBQ, mild, lemon pepper, garlic Parmesan, Hawaiian, and teriyaki; while customers also have the option of choosing numerous sides such as baked beans, French fries, and etc.
“During the Wingstop Grand Opening, I ordered a small fry with an order of six lemon pepper wings,” Thomas said. “I usually never finish my food, but I cleaned my plate. The food was terrific.”
Wingstop first opened in 1994. Today, Wingstop is one of the fastest growing concepts in the country, and attracting top entrepreneurs.
