Career Development/Computer Classes
MARCH 11—Pennsylvania Women Work will host Free Career Development and Computer Classes at the Homewood YWCA, 6907 Frankstown Ave., Homewood. This is a five-week course that will give individuals the tools needed to get back into the workforce. Registration is required. For more information, call 412-742-4364.
Homebuyer Workshop
MARCH 14—Community Empowerment Association and Neighborworks of Western Pa will host its Homebuyers Education Workshop from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at CEA, 7120 Kelly St., Homewood. The workshop is part of the Community Benefits Workshop Series. Attendees will learn everything from credit to closing a housing transaction from certified instructors. Fundraiser for Fire Victims
MARCH 14—Bethel AME Church will host a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for the Morgan Street Fire Victims from 12-5 p.m. at Bethel AME Church, 2720 Webster Ave., Hill District. On Feb. 28, four families lost everything when a three-alarm fire broke out in their Morgan Street building. All donations and proceeds from the sale of the dinners will go to the families. Women/Girls Weekend
MARCH 14—The Mother-Daughter Circle of Educating Teens About HIV/AIDS Inc. will host its Women and Girls Health Weekend 2015 and Luncheon at 12 p.m. at the LeMont Restaurant, 1114 Grandview Ave., Mt. Washington. This is an observance of National Women & Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The theme is “Share Knowledge. Take Action.” Reservations are required. NEED Dinner
MARCH 19—NEED will host its 52nd Annual Scholarship Dinner at 6 p.m. at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Hotel, 600 Commonwealth Place, Downtown. Local high school students will be presented with various scholarships. Women’s History Month Program
MARCH 28—The McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center will host its 3rd Annual Women’s History Month Program at 2 p.m. at the McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center, 1832 Arboretum Dr., McKeesport. Elizabeth Jones will present “Stella the Steel Worker in the Mon Valley.” She will share some of the remarkable stories of these women who worked in the steel mills during World War II. Free Tax Preparation Services
ONGOING—The Hazelwood, Homewood and McKeesport YMCA Branches will host its “Hope For All” Free Tax Preparation Services at its branches. The program, which provides financially vulnerable families with advice and assistance on becoming more stable, will offer free help with filing their taxes to residents in the Hazelwood, Homewood and McKeesport neighborhoods.
