Small Business Counseling for Women
MARCH 19—The Downtown & Business branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host the Small Business Counseling for Women session at 12:15 at 612 Smithfield St., Downtown. Anne Flynn Schlict, of the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship, will be the presenter. This is a seminar for women interested in starting or expanding their business; it will teach them about economic opportunities through entrepreneurial education and training, mentoring and networking. PowerBreakfast Meeting
MARCH 20—The African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania will host its PowerBreakfast Meeting at 7:30 a.m. at One Oxford Centre. 301 Grant St., Downtown. The guest speaker will be City of Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto. He will discuss his past year’s accomplishments and his future plans for the city. Reservations are requested by March 18. Social Media Series
MARCH 20—The Duquesne University Small Business Development Center will host its “Social Media Series: Twitter” from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Duquesne University, Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. This is the second of three sessions in the series. This session is designed to help attendees better understand Twitter and how it can help their business. Registration is required. QuickBooks Workshop
MARCH 25—Duquesne University Small Business Development Center will host its QuickBooks: Basic Training from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Duquesne University, Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. This is the first of three sessions that are designed to provide information to broaden QuickBooks skills. Attendees will learn how to set up company files, process invoices and create financial reports. The event will be facilitated by a certified public accountant from Dennis Piper & Associates. This is the last sessions of the series. This session will address the advantage of having a business advertising and posting videos on YouTube. Registration is required.
