Vincentian Academy wins consecutive Class A titles

HERSHEY, Pa. (AP) – Senior forward Brenna Wise recorded a triple-double and Pittsburgh’s Vincentian Academy defeated Old Forge 86-38 Saturday afternoon for its second consecutive PIAA Class A girls’ basketball championship.
Wise, a University of Pittsburgh recruit, poured in a game-high 30 points with 11 rebounds and 13 steals, all in 21 lopsided minutes at Hershey’s Giant Center. Overwhelming the District 2 champion Devils for the second time in as many seasons – Vincentian beat Old Forge 58-34 in the 2014 final – the Royals (30-1) forced 28 first-half turnovers and led 48-20 at halftime.
Alexis Griggs chipped in 24 points and seven rebounds for Vincentian, making its third state finals appearance in as many seasons.
Vincentian Academy set a girls’ PIAA championship mark for points (86) and margin of victory (48).
