Police investigating robbery in Fine View


PITTSBURGH, PA – The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police would like to caution residents, especially senior citizens, about opening their doors to individuals posing as sales people or utility workers.
If you did not call a company for any specific type of service, please take a moment to call the company in question to verify if a representative was sent to your address before allowing anyone to enter your residence. Utility company employees always have proper credentials displayed in plain view that shows the name of their company along with a photo ID. If you are hesitant or fearful, do not answer the door. Please call 911.
One recent case occured on Thursday, March 26 at approximately 11:55 a.m., Zone 1 Officers were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Lafayette Avenue in Fine View for a theft report. According to the investigation, at approximately 11:25 a.m., a white male knocked on the door stating he was from the water department and needed to check the pipes in the house.
The male, who was wearing gloves, was approximately 35 to 45 years old, 5’6″, medium built, with a grayish scruffy beard.
While inside the home, the man took an undisclosed amount of money, four wedding rings, and a credit card.
