CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Two of the country’s top Black politicians are talking about the role churches should play in contemporary issues.
The Charlotte Observer reports (https://bit.ly/1KYyGYB ) U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx came home to Charlotte on Saturday to discuss the Black church and its role in political power with U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina. The Republican senator and the former Democratic mayor of Charlotte spoke at Foxx’s home church.
Foxx said church leaders shouldn’t tell people what to think but giving them access to empowering ideas and actions.
Scott said people don’t realize the political power they have, and that they can remind politicians of that at the ballot box.
