BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) _ A committee set up to find the next president of Grambling State University will meet Friday to pick semifinalists for the job.
On Tuesday the committee received the applications of eight candidates recommended for the job by the Hollins Group, a firm hired to conduct the search for the next president. Next the college’s search committee will meet Friday to pick semifinalists to interview.
The University of Louisiana System Board is expected to announce the new Grambling president at a special meeting on June 4.
In alphabetical order, the eight candidates are McKinley Boston, Jr.; former athletic director at New Mexico State University; W. Wayne Brumfield, former vice president for student affairs at the University of Louisiana at Monroe; Thomas J. Calhoun Jr., vice president for enrollment management at the University of North Alabama; Glenda F. Carter, executive vice president and provost and professor of education at Wiley College; Janet A. Guyden, interim Provost and vice president for academic and student Affairs at Grambling State University; Willie D. Larkin, chief of staff at the office of the president at Morgan State University; Gilbert L. Rochon, president’s council of the University of New Orleans and former president of Tuskegee University; and Earl G. Yarbrough, former president of Savannah State University.
Grambling State is a historically Black college in rural northern Louisiana founded in 1901 with about 5,000 students in 47 degree programs.
