PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Officials say Philadelphia’s annual July 4 concert will feature R&B artist Miguel and country singer Jennifer Nettles along with hometown hosts The Roots.
Mayor Nutter and other city officials announced plans Tuesday for the Wawa Welcome America celebration on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
Miguel’s single, “Adorn,” became a No. 1 hit on the R&B charts, and the album from which it came, Kaleidoscope Dream, was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Nettles is best known as lead singer of the platinum-selling and Grammy-winning country duo Sugarland. She released her first solo album last year.
The daylong celebration on the parkway that culminates with a free concert in the evening and a fireworks display draws tens of thousands of spectators each year.
