About a year ago, Rachel Dolezal, who has now resigned from the presidency of the NAACP chapter in Spokane, Wash. – which is on the opposite side of the state from Seattle – conducted a bizarre, yet insightful, interview where she discusses the frustration and burden of being a black woman having to speak for an entire race of people.
The interview was conducted by Eastern Washington University senior Lauren Campbell for her senior thesis. Campbell uploaded the entire interview on Friday, breaking them into five parts.
In the second of the five videos, Dolezal discussed when she realized she was black, and her guilt of having “light-skin privilege,” clearly keeping up appearances and continuing to take on the identity of an African American woman.
