The mother of a Wilkinsburg toddler who was found in a shallow ravine in Swissvale has been charged with her daughter’s death.
On July 7, authorities arrested Adriene Williams for the death of her 3-year-old daughter, Adrionna Williams, and charged her with criminal homicide, endangering the welfare of children, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
It was determined that Adrionna died of asphyxiation. A release by the Office of the Medical Examiner of Allegheny County stated “the determination was the result of a lengthy and in-depth collaboration between morgue services and several sections of the Crime Labs of OMEAC, with investigators of the County Police and the Office of the District Attorney.”
No further details have been made available.

It was on June 14 that Adrionna’s body was found, a few miles from her home, by a person walking their dog. She had been reported missing to Wilkinsburg Police less than an hour before the discovery. Since then, Allegheny County Police had been treating the investigation of the girl’s death as a homicide.
Since the toddler’s death, many in the community have held marches and vigils demanding justice for the little girl.
