Atlanta Swimming Pools and Cooling Stations to Remain Open During Extreme Heat

ATLANTA — Don’t you just hate it when the the heatwave is so thick that you feel like you can go outdoors and push the air aside? The city of Atlanta is most certainly earning its moniker “Hot-lanta” as the heat and humidity pushes the index up to (and occasionally past) the alarming triple-digit demarcation in the month of July.
During these intense days where the heat seems to bear-hug you as if you’re long-lost friends, the city of Atlanta has subsequently announced three cooling stations that will open until further notice to ensure that Atlanta residents have a safe place to stay cool during the expected high temperatures.
Residents, especially senior citizens, are strongly advised to take advantage of these cooling stations if needed. Cooling stations are air conditioned facilities where Atlanta residents can find relief from the heat. They are open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department is also offering free bottled water at all fire stations.
