ATLANTA — Rap legend Ice Cube was able to experience an extreme Hollywood rarity, perhaps even an unprecedented film-making feat: living vicariously through his son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., as his first-born portrayed father Ice Cube in the film, Straight Outta Compton, chronicling his father’s bodacious and bombastic bandmates’ spectacular rise and precipitous fall from rap superstardom.

The city’s celebrity elite congregated at the Regal Theater at Atlantic Station for Universal’s highly-anticipated “Straight Outta Compton.”  Ice Cube and his son were joined by the likes of singer Usher, rappers Ludacris, Da Brat, 2Chainz, BoB and David Banner, famed producer Will Packer, renowned director F. Gary Gray, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Councilman Kwanza Hall and many others for the electric film that took audiences on a foray into the meteoric rise of a revolutionary rap group that rose from the ashes of abject impoverishment in Compton, Calif. to change the face of hip hop and popular music forever.
