City, county to honor U.S. Women’s World Cup Championship Team Friday

PITTSBURGH, PA– The City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County and the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership will honor the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team in a celebration in Market Square on Friday, August 14.

A proclamation ceremony will take place in Market Square at Noon on Friday. Mayor William Peduto will present the proclamation on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald to Team USA defender and Pittsburgh area native (Pine-Richland High School) Meghan Klingenberg.

Representatives from U.S. Soccer will have the World Cup Trophy on display in Market Square from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday. A photo booth will be available for fans to take pictures.
