FACE Benefit Banquet
AUG. 27—Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center Inc. will host its 5th Annual Friend of Children Benefit Banquet at 6 p.m. at the Rodef Shalom, 4905 Fifth Ave., Squirrel Hill. The non-profit social service agency, which serves hundreds of individuals and families, will honor Pittsburgh Promise Executive Director Saleem Ghubril. Redevelopment Kickoff
AUG. 27—KBK Enterprises will host the MWBE Kickoff for the Redevelopment of Addison Terrace Phases II and III at 6 p.m. at Ella Mar Hillman Center, 385 Elmore St., Hill District. This is an opportunity for local minority and women business owners to explore the phases’ design, schedule and contract opportunities associated with this redevelopment project. Old School Reunion
AUG. 29—Clarion University will host an Old School Reunion from 7 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Monroeville Convention Center, 209 Mall Blvd., Monroeville. Clarion Alumni, family and friends are welcome to enjoy a night of old school fun that benefits the Black Student Fund. Registration is required. Candlelight Vigil
SEPT. 1—The Alliance for Police Accountability, New Voices Pittsburgh and other local community organizations will host the Allegheny County Jail Health Justice Project Candlelight Vigil at 4 p.m. at the Allegheny County Jail, 950 2nd Ave., Downtown. This is a protest in solidarity with those who have lost their lives, loved ones or suffered needlessly at the ACJ from medical neglect. There will also be a press conference at 2 p.m. at the Courtyard of the Courthouse, 436 Grant St., Downtown. Know Your Legal Rights
SEPT. 1—NeXtPgh along with the ACLU Pittsburgh Chapter, Kingsley Center and Soul Pitt Media will host the “Know Your Legal Rights” Open Discussion from 6:45-8:30 p.m. at the Kingsley Community Center, 6435 Frankstown Ave., East Liberty. Appreciation Luncheon
SEPT. 5—Purpose of Life will host its 2nd Annual Appreciation Luncheon from 12-5 p.m. at the Monroeville DoubleTree Convention Center Hotel, 101 Mall Blvd., Monroeville. Senior Fitness
ONGOING—The Vintage will host its Zumba Gold Fitness Program at 1 p.m. at the Vintage, 401 N. Highland Ave., East Liberty. Every Tuesday this fitness program takes exciting Latin and International dance rhythms created in the original Zumba fitness program and brings them to the active older adult and beginner participants that may need modifications for success.
