Robbery arrest made in East Liberty

PITTSBURGH, PA – One man was arrested after a robbery in East Liberty.
According to the investigation, at approximately 9:40 p.m. Stewart Townsend, 25 of Highland Park, approached a male after he left a gas station in the 500 block of N. Highland Avenue and pulled a knife on the victim.
After a brief struggle, the actor made off with the victim’s licensed handgun and some cash. He fled on a bicycle with another Black male who was also on a bicycle.
Zone 5 Officers were able to apprehend Townsend at approximately 11 p.m. The other male got away. During the pursuit, Townsend discarded the stolen property, but Officers were able to recover the items. The 52-year-old victim was unharmed.
