Celebrate the Symphony
The Kaufmann Center presents “Celebrate with the Symphony at the Hill House Kaufmann Center” at 7 p.m. at the Hill House Association Kaufmann Center, Elsie H. Hillman Auditorium, 1825 Centre Ave., Hill District. This is an evening celebrating the arts with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and friends. Featured performers include Lawrence Loh, Jasmine Muhammad, Jennifer Orchard and Lorna McGhee. Along with the symphony, there will also be an introduction of the new exhibit, “Dignity: Renditions and Inspiration,” by artists Tina Williams-Brewer and Bill Double. Jazz at Andys
Andys Wine Bar at the Fairmont Pittsburgh Hotel presents Jazz at Andys from 5-7:30 p.m. at 510 Market St., Downtown. Special guest DJ Malls will be spinning the vinyl as part of the VINYL Happy Hour. Classical Standards
MCG Jazz presents Classical Standards with Phil Woods & the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. at the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, 1815 Metropolitan St., Manchester. As a part of Neighborhood Week, there will be a special evening combining the very best in melodic jazz performance with the richness of the orchestral instrumentation. There will be contemporary arrangements of swinging standards with the lush of orchestral sounds of the Pittsburgh Symphony. Artists include Lawrence Loh, Phil Woods, James Moore, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members of the string and woodwind sections. Andys Wine Bar at the Fairmont Pittsburgh Hotel presents Jazz at Andys from 8 p.m.-12 a.m. at 510 Market St., Downtown. Every Tuesday through Saturday, local musicians will perform live. Reservoir of Jazz Concert Series
Citiparks presents the Reservoir of Jazz Concert Series from 7-9 p.m. at the Highland Park Reservoir, Highland Avenue and Reservoir Drive, Highland Park. Guests can sit on the lawn of Highland Park and listen to the sounds of jazz performed by Pittsburgh’s finest musicians. The featured performer will be Etta Cox. Following the series, there will be a Summer Soul Line Dancing series by instructor Roland Ford. He incorporates R&B music in classes that begin with basic steps and finish with more advanced moves.
