PITTSBURGH (AP) _ An assistant football coach at Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh has been placed on leave after a student reported being injured by the coach during football practice last month.
Pittsburgh Public Schools spokeswoman Ebony Pugh says the incident happened Aug. 13, but wasn’t reported to the school until Aug. 25.
Pugh says the matter has been turned over to city police, who have yet to announce the results of their investigation.
Pugh won’t say how the student was hurt or whether he required hospitalization.
The assistant coach’s name has not been released by authorities.
Pugh says the student was injured while “being admonished” by the coach.
The incident was also reported to ChildLine, a hotline that accepts child abuse complaints.
