Homewood shooting at peace vigil under investigation

PITTSBURGH, PA – Shortly after 9 p.m. on Sept. 16, Zone 5 Officers responded to N Lang Avenue and Monticello Street in Homewood North for the report of a shooting.

According to the investigation, a gathering was taking place at a nearby residence when two actors wearing dark clothing opened fire from across the street. Two victims — a 12 year old and a 49 year old — were struck, and a 3 year old victim was grazed. The 3 and 12 year olds were taken to Children’s Hospital and are in stable condition. The 49 year old female victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian and is in stable condition. Several vehicles were also struck by gunfire.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call police by dialing 9-1-1.
