Harrisburg, Pa. – This morning, U.S. Senator Pat Toomey won the full backing of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania.

Senator Toomey, who is vying to continue serving Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate, was endorsed by the members of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania as part of the Party’s annual fall meeting in Harrisburg.

Following the endorsement announcement, Senator Toomey took to the stage to offer his gratitude to the members of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania and Chairman Rob Gleason for their continuing support but knows that his work is just beginning.

This has been a great privilege for me.  I am deeply grateful to all of you (the members of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania) for your support. This endorsement helps to demonstrate the unity of this great Party. At a time when the other side is divided, we are together, we are united, and we are strong.  And because of that, we’re going to win this and we’re going to do our part to make the 21st century another great American century.

Senator Toomey hosted a campaign kick-off event last weekend where he officially announced his intent to seek re-election to the U.S. Senate in 2016.

Pennsylvania Republican Party Chairman Rob Gleason touted Senator Toomey’s efforts in support of the Commonwealth and its residents.

Pat Toomey is a proven fighter for policies that create jobs, keep taxes low, and protect our nation. During his time in office, Pat Toomey has fought against the Obama administration by offering a ten-year plan to balance our federal budget.  Senator Toomey was a leading author of the JOBS Act, which is aimed at helping our small and mid-sized businesses expand to create more jobs in our communities.  Senator Pat Toomey has been an outspoken advocate of strengthening child protection laws that will keep predators out of our schools.

“Pat Toomey is a firm believer in the common sense Republican principles of individual freedom and economic opportunity.  The Republican Party is proud to support Pat Toomey’s efforts to stand up for the needs of Pennsylvanians in the U.S. Senate.”

Senator Toomey was nominated for the Republican Party’s endorsement by Committeewoman Mary Barket of Northampton County.  The motion was seconded by Committeeman Andy Reilly of Delaware County.

Senator Toomey also won the Republican Party of Pennsylvania’s endorsement during his previous campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2010.
