The Josh Gibson Foundation welcomed back to Pittsburgh, former Pirates outfielder, Barry Bonds and Skipper Jim Leyland.The two headlined a special awards dinner at the Wyndham Grand Hotel. Also in the evening various local city leaders were honored for their community leadership.
Honored were: Robert V. Racunas, National Legal Services Association, Saleem Ghubril, executive director Pittsburgh Promise; Barry Bonds, former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder; Ed Gainey, Pa. House of Representative; Austin Davis, assistant to County Executive Rich Fitzgerald; Lara E. Washington, president Allegheny Rehabilitation Corporation; and the 1990 Pittsburgh Pirates Line-Up. Present also at the dinner was Negro League Legend Ted Toles and family.
