SPECIAL EDITION: THE TOP TEN REASONS YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN
AT THE 2nd ANNUAL PITTSBURGH CITY LEAGUE HIGH SCHOOL
ALL-SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTIONS…
:10—You missed a chance to win $250 big ones in the 50/50. It was a $500 draw. (Big thanks to Fred Lucas, Toni Allen & Carmen.)
:09—See the Hall of Fame Committee decked out in Jack’s Tuxedos, red vest and ties with the Black Dior Tux. That being Chuck Franklin, Chairman Vince Neal, Co-Chairman Fred Lucas, Mike Harber, Ron Saunders, Curt Hifflin and of course the President of the Know-It-All-Club “Sir Eddie Jefferies.” Great job gentlemen. Mission accomplished!

:08—Speaking of job well done, you missed seeing the ladies of Achieving Greatness in all their radiant glory and running the show as only they can. Tremendous job ladies. Couldn’t have done it without you. Elizabeth King Sr., Vice President Brandi Lipford, Director of Advertising, Marketing & Sales Joelle Montague, Public Relations Director and Lara Lee, Special Assistant. (Special thanks also goes out to Red Lee, Michael Cobbs, Toni Allen and Carmen.)
:07—Oh yeah, while you were “Somewhere Else” you didn’t get to see the Sponsors Awards. Iftakhar Milick and Penn Avenue McDonald’s winning the honors for 2015 and recognition going to the Savoy Restaurant and Chuck Saunders Charities as co-winners followed by the superior support of Highmark, the Pittsburgh School Board, Super Bakery, KDKA, Rivers Casino, the Wilson Group, and the fabulous hosting by the Wyndham Hotel, University Center.
:06—Chuck Cooper Jr., representing and speaking on behalf of his legendary and historic father Chuck Cooper Sr., the first Black man to play pro basketball in the NBA, and the presentation of a classic photo of Mr. Cooper with the Boston Celtics to Achieving Greatness.
:05—The lighting of the candles in memory of the 50 legends that have gone on to better playing fields. “Hoo-Ray” to Vince Neal, Ron Saunders and Chuck Franklin.
:04—The great, great, great 20 living legends that went into the City League Hall of Fame. (See the forthcoming story by Smokin’ Jim Frazier to get caught up.)  But to be sure…Rod Rutherford, Arnie Sewell Olympian, Carmon Bruce, Curt Hifflin, Clarence Hopson, West Garnett and the great Larry Brown and others…Now that’s a party!
:03—You need to know if you had come you would have been in the company of Pittsburgh legend, four time Super Bowl Champion, Franco Harris.
:02—The All-Star Dream Team that made the presentations to the Hall of Fame Inductees…The M.C.’s for the event led by “The Grande Dame” of Pittsburgh socialites, Debbie Norrell, KDKA’s finest Bob Allen, the heart of Aliquippa Kevin Cameron and the energy of Smokin’ Jim Frazier.  The only crew better than this one is on ESPN…and that’s a toss-up!!!!!
:01—And you missed seeing Darrell Porter and Rick Cannon side by side again. Looking like they can still get it done!
:00—And the number one reason you should have been there is the amazing – fantastic – tremendous – overwhelming 300 plus sell-out standing room only City League crowd that turned out to show love for the City League legends.
