ATLANTA — Rap boss Big Boi, one half the legendary and genre-defining duo OutKast, is now taking his talents to the stage with his new group Big Grams in a set of performances during the Atlanta Hawks game against the Washington Wizards at Philips Arena in downtown Atlanta on Nov. 7.
The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club is collaborating with musical group Big Grams, which comprises of seven-time Grammy winner Big Boi and Phantogram, today announced plans to have the newly-formed three-person collective perform multiple sets when the team welcomes the Washington Wizards to Atlanta. The game tips off 7:30 p.m.
“It’s an honor to perform in front of the home crowd with this new music after all these years,” said Big Boi, who co-authored a dizzying number of classic hits in the 90s and new millennium with former bandmate Andre 3000, but has now formed his own group. “We’ve been giving them what they want and desire time and time again. A-Town for life.”
Big Grams is made up of Big Boi and Phantogram’s Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter, and they will bring their distinctive sound to the Philips Arena floor during halftime and postgame performances at the Hawks’ first Saturday contest of the season. The trio will also host an album signing for fans, autographing copies of “BIG GRAMS,” their self-titled, seven-track debut released on Sept. 25 through Epic Records.
“Atlanta has felt like home away from home for the past couple years,” Carter said. “We grew up watching (Hall of Fame inductee) Dominique (Wilkins) and Spud (Webb), so we can’t wait to play for the Hawks fans.”
“Big Grams represents much of what the Hawks represent on-and-off the court,” said Hawks CEO Steve Koonin. “The collaborative efforts of Big Boi and Phantogram, bridging musical and stylistic gaps to deliver a one-of-a-kind product, mirror our efforts to unite Atlanta and build bridges with our community through basketball. We are thrilled to host them and are excited to offer our fans another great game night experience.”
Tickets are on sale now and available by visiting www.hawks.com/tickets, calling 1-866-715-1500, or visiting the Philips Arena Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet.
