Standing before a crowd of nearly 500 in the Omni William Penn Hotel ballroom, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf opened his keynote address to those attending the African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania’s annual Business Luncheon by saying he had a budget update.
“The update is—we are going to get one,’” he joked. “I think we’re going to get there soon, and it will be good for education and balanced.”
But despite the ongoing dispute that has prevented passing a budget for five months, Wolf said he wanted to talk about policy concerns, because his are aligned with those of the chamber.
“What you do is important to our whole economy; breaking barriers, leveling the playing field, and providing opportunities. We need an economy that supports those opportunities,” he said. “So, your concerns at the African American Chamber are very important to me.”
