PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Four of five men accused of beating a Black man and pushing onto the subway tracks in Pittsburgh last spring have entered pleas, but only one faces jail time.
Prosecutors in Allegheny County dropped a charge of attempted murder against 22-year-old Ryan Kyle in exchange for his guilty plea Tuesday to charges of aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation and robbery conspiracy. He will be sentenced later.
Three other defendants were placed on probation after no contest pleas to reduced charges. A hearing for the fifth defendant is slated Thursday.
Authorities said Kevin Lockett was tossed off the Wood Street station platform and beaten following a May 30 Kenny Chesney concert at Heinz Field. Lockett said Tuesday he was disappointed by the plea deals, calling them “slaps on the wrist.”
