Bruce Kelley Sr., was released, March 3, by Wilkinsburg magistrate Kim M. Hoots, to his relatives in Washington, Pa., with the condition that he attends a Veteran Administration Alcoholic Treatment Program, said Community Activist Dell Vann in an email to the Courier.
One of the two counts of aggravated assault and resisting-arrest has been dropped by the magistrate, Vann said.
Kelley Sr.’s charges stem from a Jan. 31 encounter with Port Authority police that left his son, 37-year-old Bruce Kelley Jr. dead
Vann said he met with the family and they agreed to allow him to assist them in writing a letter to the Medical Examiner’s office for the release of the autopsy results of Bruce Kelley Jr.
Vann said he believes Kelley Jr., was killed by shots to the back, however there hasn’t been an official ruling by the Medical Examiner’s office.
