Donald Trump has come under increasing fire for inflammatory rhetoric and demagoguery (language designed to divide and incite prejudices) that has attracted the racist and lunatic fringe of society. Moreover, many of the bottom-feeders have taken upon themselves, or feel free, to commit random acts of violence against protesters without the thought of legal repercussions.
Some of these episodes at Trump rallies have doubtlessly had racial overtones. The latest happened when a black male demonstrator was being escorted out of the arena. Rakeem Jones was being led out by a group of sheriffs deputies when the white man, John McGraw, sucker punched Jones and then pushed him. The black man stumbled a bit and was immediately surrounded by law enforcement. A video clearly illuminates the disturbing fact that authorities never attempted to arrest McGraw or escort him out of the facility due to his violent behavior.
McGraw even bragged about the pleasure he got in hitting the black man in an interview following the event. “[I enjoyed] knocking the h— out of that big mouth,” McGraw told ‘Inside Edition.’ “We don’t know who he is, but we know he’s not acting like an American. The next time we see him, we might have to kill him.”
Trump seems unconcerned, and even has egged on his supporters in getting counter-demonstrators exercising their free speech rudely removed from Trump rallies. His team has given empty rhetoric to saying they discourage violence, but in light of Trump’s dangerous statements, those words ring hollow. When a protester in Alabama was attacked, Trump said, “Maybe he should have been roughed up.”
Finally, the man who punched the black man, McGraw, 74, was apprehended and is being charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
