The Colour of Music (Black Classical Musicians ) Festival will present the Colour of Music Festival Virtuosi in performance in Pittsburgh Thursday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Carnegie Mellon University, Kresge Recital Hall, 500 Forbes Ave. with an encore performance Friday, April 29 at East Liberty Presbyterian Church, 116 S. Highland Ave.
The Colour of Music debut is part of Carnegie Mellon University’s Center for the Arts Society Requiem for Rice initiative led by Dr. Edda L. Fields-Black librettist on which The Requiem is based. The Requiem will premiere at the Colour of Music Black Classical Musicians’ Festival Oct. 18-22, 2017 in Charleston, SC.
The April 28 Carnegie Mellon performance is free for Carnegie Mellon faculty and students; all other general admission tickets are $10-$25; general admission tickets for the April 29 performance at East Liberty Presbyterian Church are $10-$35.
Based in Charleston, South Carolina, the Colour of Music Festival presents a diverse repertoire of Baroque, Classical and 20th century music at the highest musical standards comprising top musicians of African descent from around the globe.
