The Atlanta City Council has approved the sale of Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves until the end of the year, to Georgia State University.
Despite the protestations of residents who came out came to speak out against the agreement, which the council voted to approve on Monday. Members of the Turner Field Benefits Coalition had pushed for legal language to prevent displacement and secure specific benefits for community members.
Fulton County will also need to approve the measure.

City Council Member Carla Smith says the city and developers have taken every opportunity to meet with residents.
“I’m glad to sit down and work with them,” said Smith, according to WABE.
But that the agreement was just an early step in the $300 million redevelopment plan.
