Former superstar Madonna was severely stung and hurt by the torrential downpour of criticism of her inadequate and ill-conceived tribute to the late, legendary Prince to close out the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. Social media swarmed all over her like angry hornets nest.
Even BET took a huge swipe at Madonnaâs scalp when it reassured Prince fans that it would be doing it’s own tribute.
She responded to social media music critics in a series of posts on her Instagram page. âDeal with it,â she wrote in one post.
âAnyone who wants to do a tribute to Prince is welcome to. Whatever your age Gender or skin Color. If you loved him and he inspired you then show it!!!! I love Prince 4 ever,â Madonna wrote in a caption under a photo of a gregarious Prince-inspired outfit.
In a third post she captioned a video: âThis is my âIâm not your bitch donât hang your sâ on meâ Dance.â
Obviously, Madonna had to ice down her bruised ego after the social media beat-down she took. But she was not nearly as irate at the legion of Prince fans who expected a tribute more befitting of the late funk-rock royalty who died under extremely conspicuous circumstances at age 57 in his home in suburban Minneapolis on April 21.
