“I Am Not A Model,” Women’s Empowerment Campaign was designed to embrace the beauty of all different kinds of women, in different walks of life.
The title, “I Am Not A Model” is unique because today we live in a culture where beauty is over saturated with plastic surgery, material possessions, women seen on television screens, social media, and magazine covers. The beauty and irony of “I Am Not A Model” is the fact that women are deciding to embrace their flaws and rocky past, and seeing how those things make up their true beauty inside and out.
A group of women gathered at Fahrenheit The Evolution Hair Salon located in Penn Hills to engage in a day of glamour, photo shoots, and empowerment for, “I Am Not A Model.”
The campaign began where the women engaged in an in-depth conversation all sharing their different stories of trials, tribulations, and triumphs. The group included, Chelsea Glover, Dalynn Jones, Leah Taylor, Tazz Jones, Brittany Tunstalle, Chayla Carter, Darah Doubt Swinton, Donneisha Brown, and Cherie Olivis. Makeup and makeovers were provided by Pittsburgh makeup artist Tionna Briskers while the photo shoot was held by two photographers, Dana Street and Edward Adams.
