T.I.’s restaurant gets eviction notice for unpaid bills, lawsuit for cheating employees

ATLANTA — There’s something serious cooking down at T.I.’s restaurant in downtown Atlanta, but it’s not the food.  Scales 925 is going up in figurative flames.
Rapper Clifford “Tip” Harris, who celebrated the opening of Scales 925 just over a year ago, is facing a lawsuit alongside his business partner Charles Hughes after employees claimed Charles improperly paid them and gave them checks that bounced repeatedly.
Also, and just as importantly, the sheriffs deputies are serving an eviction notice on T.I.’s downtown Atlanta restaurant. The landlord told WSBTV that T.I. hasn’t paid his rent in months and owes over $1 million.
According to WSBTV:
“Hughes used Scales LLC to create bank accounts for payroll. However, Hughes would deposit money from SCALES 925 into his personal account causing payroll checks to bounce,” the suit claims.
“Hughes has made fraudulent statements to restaurant employees concerning the hours the employees worked at SCALES 925. For example, Hughes used a time and billing software call ALOHA for keeping track of employee hours.
The software would delete hours or not keep track of hours exceeding 40 hours per week. Employees complained to Hughes but were told it was nothing he could do.”
Neither Harris nor Hughes have responded to the lawsuit or the eviction notice.
