Metro Beat…Female shot in East Liberty

PITTSBURGH, PA – At approximately 2:38 a.m. on August 24, Zone 5 Officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification for multiple shots fired near N. St. Clair and Rippey Street. While responding to the location, Officers were notified that a female had been shot.
According to the investigation, several individuals were standing on the corner when a gray vehicle pulled up and started to shoot at them. A 19-year-old female was struck in the stomach. She was listed in serious condition, but has since been treated and released from the hospital.
The Group Violence Intervention Unit is investigating.
NON-FATAL SHOOTING IN EAST HILLS
PITTSBURGH, PA – At approximately 1 a.m. on August 24, Police were notified of a walk-in gunshot victim at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. It was quickly determined that the 41-year-old male victim had been shot in East Hills.
According to the investigation, the victim stopped his vehicle in the 2300 block of East Hills Drive. He stepped out of his vehicle and was standing near the wood line when he was shot in his right ankle. No pedestrians or vehicles were seen in the area at the time. The victim then got back into his vehicle and drove to seek help.
Officers were on Park Hill Drive for another call at the time of the shooting and heard gunshots in the distance. Multiple Officers checked the area with negative results.
The victim is in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
 
SWAT CALLED TO HOMEWOOD NORTH
PITTSBURGH, PA – Zone 5 Police were called to the 8300 block of Frankstown Avenue at appoximately 7:30 p.m. on August 23 to support an operation that was conducted by the PA Office of Attorney General involving drug activity.
A potentially armed suspect barricaded himself inside of a residence and refused orders to come out. This prompted a SWAT call out.
The suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Tyrell Griffin, who has no current address, surrendered shortly after SWAT approached the residence. He was taken into custody without incident. Charges are pending. A mug shot is not currently available.
 

MAN FATALLY SHOT IN HOMEWOOD

PITTSBURGH, PA – At approximately 11:24 p.m. on August 22, Police received notification of a gunshot victim who self-reported to UPMC Shadyside. The male was pronounced deceased upon arriving at the hospital.

According to the investigation, the 31-year-old male victim from Braddock was in a vehicle with two females when they picked up an unknown male. At some point, the victim was shot. The two females then drove the victim to the hospital.
Investigators believe the shooting may have occurred near Frankstown and Homewood Avenue. Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crime Unit at 412-323-7161.
BURGLARY SUSPECT ARRESTED

PITTSBURGH, PA – At approximately 12:50 a.m.  on August 22, Zone 4 Officers responded to the 6900 block of Claridge Place in Point Breeze for a report of a burglary attempt.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim. The victim stated that an unknown Black male attempted to gain entry into his residence through the back door. The victim yelled at the actor who fled toward Reynolds Street. Additional Officers responded to the area and observed a male matching the description of the actor in the area of N. Dallas Avenue and Bennett Street in Homewood at approximately 1:22 a.m. The male was carrying a small bag. The Officer attempted to make contact with the actor, but he discarded the bag and fled on foot. The actor was quickly taken into custody with the assistance of a K-9.
Once detained, the actor continuously provided false information regarding his identity to authorities. He was transported to West Penn for medical clearance before being transported to the Allegheny County Jail. He was later identified as Harry Carter of East Hills. Officers recovered two black leather gloves, a flashlight, a screwdriver and crowbar from the bag he discarded before fleeing.
Carter’s charges include criminal attempt, possessing instruments of crime, resisting arrest or other law enforcement, flight to avoid apprehension, loitering and prowling at night, and false identification to law enforcement.
1 ARREST AFTER ROBBERY OF FOOD DELIVERY DRIVER
PITTSBURGH, PA – One of three suspects in an early morning South Side robbery has been arrested.
According to the ongoing investigation, shortly before 12:35 a.m., August 20, a deliveryman was walking out of a Mamma Mia Pizzeria in the 500 block of E. Carson Street with a delivery order when he was approached by three Black males who demanded money. One suspect punched the victim in the stomach. One of the suspects exposed a gun in his waistband. Two of them grabbed the food. They all fled as an Officer approached.
They were described as one Black male wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, another Black male wearing a black or blue shirt and blue jeans, and another Black male wearing white or a light gray shirt and blue jeans who had the gun. Officers located them walking near S. 9th Street and E. Carson. This time when they fled, an Officer with a K-9 pursued and found two of the suspects in a parking lot. The suspects ignored orders from the Officer and the K-9 was deployed.  The dog caught one of the suspects on Selby Way and bit him. He was taken into custody. Additional officers continued to search for the other two suspects with negative results.  While Paramedics transported the suspect in custody to UPMC Mercy, Officers learned the suspect had an active warrant out of Westmoreland County. Arrested was Duane Raymere Coleman, 20, of Arlington Heights.
SHOTS FIRED CALL LEADS TO 1 ARREST
PITTSBURGH, PA – At approximately 2:30 a.m., Aug. 20, Zone 3 Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Estella and Freeland streets for a report of 10 shots fired. A gray, four-door vehicle was seen speeding in the area. While Officers were searching the area, a gray four-door Toyota Corolla drove down Climax Street at a high rate of speed. The Officers observed the driver to be a male with black hair and a goatee who was wearing a black T-shirt. There were three other occupants of the vehicle, one wearing a white T-shirt. The suspect vehicle turned left on Curtain.
The officers suspected that the occupants of the vehicle may have been involved in an earlier robbery near Larkins Way and 19th Street. One of the suspects in that robbery was armed with a gun.
Officers found the suspect vehicle crashed at the end of Eutaw Street. Two males fitting the description of the occupants were located at Shiloh Street and Southern Avenue. One fled, the other did not try to flee and was eventually interviewed and released.
The male with the black T-shirt fled into a wooded area. Officers set up a perimeter and a K-9 unit responded. The K-9 located the suspect and bit him. The suspect was taken into custody and Paramedics transported him to UPMC Mercy. He was indentified as Daniel Dellenbaugh, 24, of Burgettstown. Police later transported him to the Allegheny County Jail on charges of escape, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and fleeing or attempting to elude police officers.
