Reminder: City to host memorial ceremony for former Mayor Bob O'Connor

PITTSBURGH, PA (August 31, 2016) – Mayor William Peduto and the O’Connor family will hold a Tribute to Mayor Bob O’Connor ceremony outside the City-County Building on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from Noon-1:00 p.m.
The ceremony will begin at Noon and take place on Grant Street in front of the steps of the City-County Building at 414 Grant Street. Grant Street – from Fourth Avenue to Forbes Avenue – will be closed to vehicular traffic from 11:30 a.m. until approximately 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1.
The ceremony is free and open to the public. The O’Connor family requests to have as many former colleagues, staff members, constituents and friends of Bob O’Connor as possible in attendance for the tribute. Remarks will be given by O’Connor family members and Mayor Peduto. Larry Richert will emcee.
Bob O’Connor was the 58th Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh and served as Mayor from January 3, 2006 until September 1, 2006. Prior to serving as Mayor, Bob O’Connor served as a member of City Council from 1992-2003. The tribute ceremony is being held on the 10th anniversary of Mayor Bob O’Connor’s passing.
