If “unique” is what you seek, then contact Gerald William Love Jr., 22, a July 2016 graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh (AIP). With an eye for design that includes the use of brilliant splashes of color, bold prints and sharp definitions in his creations, his name and unique style were not unfamiliar in the fashion community even before he turned 21.
Outside-the-box creativity opened the door for him in Pittsburgh for special design opportunities, creative photo shoots, opportunities for collaboration with others and involvement in 2015 Fashion Week. There was also collaboration with one of his AIP instructors.
“I had been at the Art Institute less than three years when my instructor invited me to work with her on a project for a display in a window at Google, in Bakery Square,” Love says. “So I created material with the Pittsburgh city skyline on it and designed a dress which was displayed for a very long time. I was so honored. Only 20 years old and invited by such a talent as my instructor, Suzanne Mauro. It really increased my confidence.”
