Two-time defending city league champion Brashear Bulls lost their best player Qu’ran Powe and any hopes of winning the city when Powe decided to transfer to Keystone Oaks. Powe, is a senior with blazing 4.4 speed but has been ruled ineligible. WPIAL ruled that he transferred for athletic intent and Powe’s high school football career comes to an unexpected, unfortunate and abrupt end.
Former USO Eagles star Kenny Robinson, 6’2-200, is being recruited by Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Iowa State, Toledo and agreed to play for Imani Christian Academy. Robinson’s defection left a void too big for University Prep to fill.
Allderdice hasn’t won a City League championship since 1967 and this season will be no different and Carrick lacks a winning tradition.
Perry was one of the most dominate football programs over the last three decades but we don’t hear the Roar of the Commodores no more.
Perry is very talented on both sides of the ball and could challenge for the City title. Quarterback Doug Johnson and junior Josh Dyer are capable of lighting up the scoreboard.
Defense wins championships and Westinghouse is capable of shutting out any team on their schedule and they have a ground and pound offense. It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the Bulldogs.
