Rachel Strader, owner of Boss Hair Studio recently held one of Pittsburgh’s most successful hair shows, presented “The Pink Carpet Hair Affair” Sunday August 28 at the Kelly Strayhorn Theatre from 4 to 8 p.m.
“I’ve been braiding hair since I was 8 years old,” Rachel Strader said. “I began braiding my sister’s hair until I mastered my craft. I was inspired by my aunt, who would braid amazing designs in my hair as a child, as well as my mother who was in the modeling and beauty industry. My mother graduated from Pittsburgh Beauty Academy years ago and still until this day gives me tips that she used back in the day.”
Strader has been a committed hair stylist within the city for many years now, and wanted to put together an event to showcase her talent, along with many others.
“This event was my opportunity to showcase my skills, but I also wanted my guests to see that I am very supportive, empowering and all about my family,” she said. “The show in a nutshell represented everything that I’m about. I love hair, dance, great music, and positive people. I did my show alone as a way for me to resurrect my business and have the opportunity to represent myself as a boss. A boss meaning, being an entrepreneur and one who pushes others to set and achieve goals.”
