Public Meeting
GAP to the Point –
Bicycle Facilities
The City of Pittsburgh, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) District 11-0 and the Federal Highway Administration, is hosting a public meeting to discuss the proposed GAP to the Point project located in City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County. The purpose of this meeting is to present the proposed project scope and schedule. Further, the City of Pittsburgh and its consultants will be available to answer questions about the project.
This project will add bicycle facilities to Downtown Pittsburgh extending from Smithfield Street and Fort Pitt Blvd to Point State Park. Aspects including the addition of bicycle lanes, narrowing of travel lanes, removal of travel lanes and removal of parking along the project route will be discussed. The Market Square Historic District, the Smithfield Street Bridge, Forks of the Ohio, Firstside Historic District, Pittsburgh Renaissance Historic District, and The Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania Headquarters Building are all in the project area.
