ATLANTA (AP) _ Clark Atlanta University has received a huge gift from NBA star Charles Barkley.
In honor of Giving Tuesday, Barkley said he would be donating $1 million to the historically Black institution. The university had set a goal of $25,000 for Giving Tuesday, an online donation event birthed from the Black Friday and Cyber Monday phenomenon.
WSB-TV (https://2wsb.tv/2gmKUod ) reports Barkley also is donating $1 million to Alabama A&M University, another historically Black school. In June 2015, Barkley donated $1 million to Morehouse College, his alma mater _ Auburn University _ and the Wounded Warrior Project in Atlanta.
Clark Atlanta President Ronald A. Johnson says Barkley’s gift reflects “his desire to make a significant, positive and lasting difference in the lives of others.”
