Chatham Journalism Lecture
APRIL 5—Chatham University presents “Journalism in the Era of Fake News,” a presentation by Emmy award-winning journalist and producer Callie Crossley, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Eddy Theatre on the Shadyside campus. B-PEP Jazz Fun-Raiser
APRIL 17—The Black Political Empowerment Project presents its annual B-PEP Jazz Fun-Raiser, 5:30 to 11:30 p.m., at the Wyndham Pittsburgh University Center, 100 Lytton Ave., Oakland. Featured performers include Roger Humphries & the RH Factor, the Tim Stevens Project and more than 70 guest musicians and vocalists. Donation is $35. Art and Music Open House
APRIL 27—The Community College of Allegheny County will host an Art and Music Open House, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Hall, directly across form the Foerster Student Services Center, 800 Ridge Avenue. Attendees can explore the Art, Music and Theatre departments, as well as the state-of-the-art equipment housed in CCAC’s newly renovated and historic West Hall. The open house will be followed by a show of student artwork in the gallery, as well as vocal, instrumental and theatrical performances by Allegheny Campus students.
Scholarship Application Opportunity
THROUGH APRIL 28—The National Black Farmers Association Scholarship Program is now accepting applications for the 2017-18 academic year. In its third year, the NBFA Scholarship Program will award scholarships of up to $5,000 to African American farmers or dependents of African American farmers who plan to enroll or who are enrolled in agriculture-related study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Benefit Golf Outing
MAY 1—Lighthouse Cathedral and A For The People Institute will host a Golf Outing and Scholarship Fundraiser to benefit the children of the Wilkinsburg Massacre victims, starting at 9 a.m. with a banquet to follow at 4 p.m., at Green Oak Country Club, 5701 Third Street, Verona.
