The games, practices, drills, and teaching seemingly never stops, Williams said. “The parents get worn out,” she said. “He gets so many people involved. It takes a lot to pull all that together. Baseball, basketball, everything, it just goes from one thing to another.”
Wesley, a 1999 Penn Hills high school graduate, said he can relate to the youth because he was raised in the Black community of Pittsburgh, and became a father early in life. He began “Fatherhood Magazine,” a publication aimed at assisting young fathers with raising their children.
Wesley is also coach of the varsity basketball team at Imani Christian Academy. The team was section champs in single-A, and made it to the state playoffs this past season, falling in the first round.
Wesley’s summer basketball league will begin soon. But skills and drills clinics will be held first, at three sites; Crescent Elementary School, Homewood, Homewood YMCA, and Imani Christian Academy. The skills and drills clinics are open to elementary, middle and high school students, beginning April 17 through May 28. To register for the clinics and summer basketball league, call 412-583-0376.
