Pirates community efforts a home run, and the Cavs are falling apart! (July 26, 2017)

BILL NEAL

: 10—Well this is obviously no new news to you and no great surprise to me—but your Cleveland Cavs are falling apart as we speak (and by “yours,” I mean, my dad, Zik, Mike Booker and Brother Rasheed behind the bar at Savoy)! And deservingly so. The owner, Dan Gilbert, is a super-rich egotist. They basically fired the GM, David Griffin, the only guy holding it all together. Kevin Love is what he is. Kyrie is tired of playing the stepbrother and…oh yea…LeBron’s a bum! That’s right, I said it, deal with it! (He’s the best bum on the planet…but a bum, no less)
:09—Now you may have seen some great home runs this season. And for sure you saw some at the Home Run Derby at the All-Star break. But the greatest home run hit this year was A-ROD (that’s Alex Rodriguez to you) getting my ex, J-LO (that’s Jennifer Lopez to me). Hooking up with Ms. Lopez, now that’s a real home run!!!
:08—I know you want to get excited about your Pittsburgh Pirates, and you kind of should. After all, they’re on a bit of a streak and Cutch and Marte are back in stride. My guess is that this new energy will walk us right up to an “almost made it” hysteria—but we’ll hold on and see.
:07—I told you a long time ago the “Juice” would get freed up. Now let’s see if he’s smart enough to run a screen play or is he going to keep trying to pound the ball up the middle where all the defense is stacked and waiting for him???
:06—A long overdue and “at-a-boy” to Pittsburgh’s very own living legend. The great, and greatly underrated, Rod Rutherford. The second-greatest quarterback in Pitt history and in several categories, No. 1. Hail to Coach Rod, the new Head Coach at Perry High School.
:05—By the way, while we’re shouting out congrats to Perry High School legends, let’s send out a thousand hand claps to former Perry and Pitt legend Darrelle Porter a.k.a. DAP. Coach Porter has successfully resurrected the legendary Ozanam Program established by Karl Kohlman. Known for many great things, but best known for their tremendous youth basketball and mentoring program. Ozanam is back and better than ever.
:04—The Pittsburgh Steelers report to Camp this week, July 27. You can start getting ready to get ready. And remember, you heard it here first – the Steelers will win their 7th Super Bowl this year! Trust me when I tell you that the New England Patriots don’t matter…WHAT?!?!! That’s right, I said that, too!!
:03—A sidebar here for you: the on-field Pirates may strikeout more than you want, but the off-field Pirates are batting well over .400. Vice President Patty Paytas (a Slippery Rock Alumni friend of mine) and newly-installed Joel Gray are doing a tremendous job with community programming. Ticket giveaways, special events as well as overall diversity and inclusion…the Pirates are all-stars in this aspect.
:02—Almost your last call and spots are running out for the 10th Annual Armen ‘The Hammer’ Gilliam Memorial Hard Work Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 8-16. Saturday and Sunday August 5-6.
