UPDATE: THE POTATO IS NO LONGER IN EAST LIBERTY (IT WAS THERE MARCH 15 and MARCH 16)

Courier readers, you may have heard on the local TV news about the world’s largest potato coming to Pittsburgh, on one of those big-rig trucks. It’s coming to be featured in Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Downtown. But, no one told us it was going to be parked right in East Lib! People have been stopping to take photos with the enormous potato, parked right now in the Home Depot parking lot, on N. Highland Ave. Officials with the Idaho Potato Commission tell the Courier the huge potato will be there all day Thursday, March 15, and all day Friday, March 16. Then it will move Downtown, where it will be featured in the parade. Courier readers Chuck Hamiel and son, CJ Hamiel, 13, of Penn Hills, jumped in a pic above with the World’s Largest Potato.
