SENIOR MISSIONARY SOCIETY NO.1

by DEBBIE NORRELL, COURIER LIFESTYLES EDITOR

Each year the Senior Missionary Society No.1 holds an Annual Tea and they work diligently to find a new twist for the afternoon.

On April 6, as a part of the Annual Tea, a reexamination of the covenant of holy matrimony was held. With Rev. Dr. Lamar D. Lee Jr. of St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, Beth and Jerome Bullock repeated a portion of their recent wedding ceremony. With Nancy and Sidney Hill as matron of honor and best man, respectively, the Bullocks donned their wedding attire and said, “I do.”

The bride was stunning in an egg shell A – line tulle lace wedding dress, while the groom wore a two button tuxedo by Oscar De La Renta. In a beautiful and touching moment, Beth Bullock sang to her husband as she came down the aisle. After the ceremony the tea was poured and guests in their beautiful hats and fascinators enjoyed a beautiful afternoon.

Typically when events of this nature take place the Pastor of Homewood A.M.E. Zion Church is there to celebrate the work of the Senior Missionary Society No. 1 and greet the many guests that attend the tea. On this day he was unable to be there. On April 28, Reverend Stanley C. Dennison passed away. For the past 21 years Rev. Dennison had been the pastor of Homewood A.M.E. Zion Church, Braddock District, Allegheny Conference. He was appointed as the presiding Elder of the Braddock District in his sixth year by Bishop Marshall H. Strickland. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 37 years (Debra Volencia), sons Curtis Everett, Darius Preston and daughter Volencia Nicole. Home going services for Rev. Dennison were held on May 4.
