CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER to the New Pittsburgh Courier’s Debbie Norrell and LaMont Jones Jr. in winning Pittsburgh Black Media Federation 2019 Vann Media Awards! Up against tough competition, Ms. Norrell received her award in the Newspaper Health/Science/Environment category for a story on “A New Sharon Epperson: CNBC Finance Expert Suffered Brain Aneurysm.” Mr. Jones received his award in the Newspaper Feature category for a story on “Cuba’s Open Secret: A Complex Color Bias Rooted in Colonialism Continues to Disadvantage Those There with Dark Skin.” Visit www.newpittsburghcourier.com and click on the “Latest Metro News” section to read the award-winning stories.
