by Courier Newsroom

William C. Delaney’s name and legacy live on.

Believed to be one of the first African Americans in the Pittsburgh area to own a car dealership, Delaney’s wife, Susan, helped raise money for the first William C. Delaney Scholarships, given to young minorities aspiring to be entrepreneurs. Scholarships were awarded on June 1 at the Mount Ararat Community Activity Center. William C. Delaney died in 2017 at age 99. For more details, visit delaneyscholarship.org. Courier photographer J.L. Martello captured pics of the scholarship recipients.
