(NNPA)—After a monthslong vacancy, the White House Office of Public Liaison recently announced the hiring of Nicole Frazier as director of African American outreach.
The position has been a top priority for the Trump administration as it ramps up reelection efforts, including plans to increase Trump’s 2020 support among African Americans.
Frazier, who previously served as a regional director for Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., will succeed Henry Childs II, who replaced Omarosa Manigault Newman after she was fired in 2017.
Childs now serves as national director of the Minority Business Development Agency.
“I’m glad President Trump was able to identify such a capable person in Nicole, to serve in OPL for this incredibly important position,” Paris Dennard, who served as White House director of Black outreach under George W. Bush, told Axios. “It’s a good thing to have another African American at the table in the White House as our advocate and I stand ready to help her succeed.”
The White House declined to comment, and Gardner’s office did not respond to requests for comment.—(Washington Informer)
