On May 11, at the beautiful LeMont Restaurant on Mount Washington, Central Baptist Church’s Deaconess Ministry held their Tenth Annual Spring Hat Sensation with the theme “Hatitude and Gratitude.”
On a beautiful day hundreds of guests enjoyed the music ministry of Tubby Daniels featuring songstress Anita Levels. Guests enjoyed lunch, door prizes, great vendors and the centerpiece of the afternoon was the Hat Stroll featuring sensational hats from A Woman’s Touch in the Penn Hills Shopping Center and Mel and TiAnda Blount as guest models.
The luncheon is about the hats but just as important is the Servant’s Heart Award presented this year by Deaconess Ruth Thomas and Deaconess Cheryl Morand to First Lady Vickie Grigsby of Central Baptist Church. Vickie has served at Central Baptist for the past 23 years as First Lady, Ministers’ Wives and Women’s Ministry. The Deaconess Ministry expresses their love and gratitude to a very special woman of God. “She is a shining example of a woman who walks beside her husband in the ministry serving the people whom he shepherds.” The award was a surprise to Vickie Grigsby but the real surprise was the musical tribute performed by her husband Reverend Victor J. Grigsby. Rev. Grigsby dusted off his trumpet and played “You are the Sunshine of my Life” while the first lady was so appropriately dressed in sunshine yellow.
The afternoon concluded with words of worship from Rev. Alberta Hall. She commented on how handsome the crowd was and what a blessing it was to see God’s handiwork on display. Central Baptist Church is located at 2200 Wylie Ave.
