It has been a busy summer for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. (Alpha Omicron Lambda). The summer kicked off with the SkeePhi Party held at Preeti’s Pitt with the Lovely Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Alpha Alpha Omega Chapter. It was a nice time to unwind and socialize with great music. On May 25 a cookout was held at Monroeville Community Park that felt like one big family reunion. Line dancing, spades, food and Big City DJ T-Mac on the wheels. The weekend concluded with their third and final event of ParadICE Weekend, The Golden Oasis! This upscale party took place at beautiful Hotel Monaco in Downtown Pittsburgh. The night was for the grown and sexy and guests showed up and showed out wearing classy gold and black accents. On June 11 at Edgewood Country Club, Alpha Phi Alpha participated in the AOL Charities golf outing.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. is the first African American, intercollegiate Greek-lettered fraternity. It was initially a literary and social studies club organized in the 1905–1906 school year at Cornell University but later evolved into a fraternity with a founding date of December 4, 1906, at Cornell. It employs an icon from Ancient Egypt, the Great Sphinx of Giza, as its symbol. Its aims are “Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love For All Mankind,” and its motto is “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.” Its archives are preserved at the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center.
