In celebration of National Grandparents Day (Sept. 8), UnitedHealthcare and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, teamed up on Saturday, Sept. 7 to bring grandparents and their families together for nutritious giveaways, healthy activities, and a visit from walkaround Elmo. The “Growing Every Day, Every Way” event took place at the Homewood Salvation Army.

The U.S. Census Bureau’s 2017 American Community Survey reports that about 1.3 million grandparents in the labor force are responsible for most of the basic care of co-resident grandchildren under age 18.
