Burritt at Chamber’s PowerBreakfast

David Burritt, President and Chief Executive Officer of United States Steel Corporation, was the special guest speaker at the African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pa. PowerBreakfast Meeting, Nov. 5.  Burritt engaged the audience with a brief history about United States Steel Corporation, his commitment to the Mon Valley improvement, and helping to support the continued growth of small businesses in Southwest Pennsylvania.

He demonstrated a strong belief and feelings for the enhancement of diversity and inclusion. He also expressed the growth of diversity and inclusion both in the workforce of United States Steel Corporation as well as their various suppliers. The company is building its infrastructure to sustain the region and expects to generate hundreds of jobs in the Mon Valley.

Burritt is native of Morton, Illinois, and began his career at Caterpillar in Peoria, Illinois, where he was employed for 32 years. He joined U.S. Steel in 2013 as the CFO and talked about how much he loves Pittsburgh.

Burritt was well received by over 60 members in attendance. As an added plus, the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh performed prior to Mr. Burritt’s presentation.

Burritt, also a CPA, received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Bradley University, and his master’s degree from the University of Illinois.
